Greetings! My name is Amy Sheridan and I am a teacher of exceptional students at the Progressive Education Program located in Valley Springs Middle School. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, with a concentration in Psychology, from Appalachian State University. My Master's Degree was completed at the University of South Alabama, with a focus on behavior modification. I have taught in the elementary, middle and high school setting and also at a therapeutic wilderness camp. This is my 13th year teaching students with special needs.  I have had the privilege of teaching in the Progressive Education Program since August of 2010 and truly enjoy every single day here!

My teaching philosophy is based on respecting differences, tapping into talents, and sharing my love for learning with my students. I believe we all have something to contribute and I learn so much from my students each day. I use a multi-sensory, theme based instruction in the classroom and believe in a consistent, positive and respectful approach to making lasting, meaningful behavior changes.
