Welcome to our class! Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where each student is provided with the tools and skills they need to become self-determined individuals in control of their own destinies.

About Our Team

Jeremy Carter (Teacher) comes to PEP-Valley Springs from PEP-TC Roberson (PEP-TCR). He began his teaching career at North Rowan Middle School in Spencer, NC and is excited to return to this age group. He has a Master’s degree in Special Education from Western Carolina University and is currently working on his National Board certification. In his spare time, Jeremy enjoys hiking with his dog, bicycling, running, camping, and reading.

Sybil Pollack (Instructional Assistant) comes to our class from PEP-TCR. This is her fourth year at PEP, and she has been working with people with special needs since she was a teenager. Outside of work, Sybil enjoys camping, hiking, kayaking, and taking care of animals.

Renee Salters (Instructional Assistant) comes to our class from PEP-TCR. She has worked for Buncombe County Schools since 2000 and has been at PEP for several years. She also works at Irene Wortham Center. In her limited spare time, Renee enjoys watching Law & Order and Chicago PD.

Greg Sharritts (Instructional Assistant) comes to our class from PEP-Estes Elementary. This is his 25th year with PEP! When he’s not at school, Greg likes to play golf, garden, and hang out with his new puppy. He also volunteers at the food pantry at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher.
