Welcome to our class! Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where each student is provided with the tools and skills they need to become self-determined individuals in control of their own destinies.

About Our Team

Jeremy Carter (Teacher) comes to PEP-Valley Springs from PEP-TC Roberson (PEP-TCR). He began his teaching career at North Rowan Middle School in Spencer, NC and is excited to return to this age group. He has a Master’s degree in Special Education from Western Carolina University and is currently working on his National Board certification. In his spare time, Jeremy enjoys hiking with his dog, bicycling, running, camping, and reading.

Hannah Jackson (Instructional Assistant)
is in her first year at PEP. She is a certified nursing assistant and has enjoyed working with many people with special needs over the years. She is also in school to be a K-2 teacher. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking and camping with her pups and her partner, as well as spending time with her friends.

Greg Sharritts (Instructional Assistant) comes to our class from PEP-Estes Elementary. This is his 26th year with PEP! When he’s not at school, Greg likes to play golf, garden, and hang out with his new puppy. He also volunteers at the food pantry at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher.

Keena Steffin (Instructional Assistant) came to PEP from Owen Middle School, where she worked as a one-on-one assistant for exceptional children. She has more than 10 years of experience working with students with attention deficit disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other special needs. She is the mother of five, one of whom is diagnosed with Autism, and she is going back to school to complete a Bachelor’s degree in psychology as well as a Minister’s license.
