Credit By Demonstrated Mastery

Credit By Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) is the process by which Buncombe County Schools will, based on a body-of-evidence, award a student credit in a particular course without the student being required to complete the classroom instruction. “Mastery” is defined as a student’s command of course material at a level that demonstrates a deep understanding of the content standards and application of knowledge.

Buncombe County Middle and High School students will have the opportunity to earn credit for high school courses. It is designed to provide an opportunity for an individual student who has an exceptional mastery of course content prior to even taking the course and who wishes to earn credit and move on into something more meaningful or challenging.

Application Deadlines: CDM applications are due by the end of the previous school year for fall testing and before Winter Break for spring testing.
